Thank you for your enquiry. As you have noted, the concept of inflation, originally proposed by Alan Guth in 1980 says the universe went through a period of very rapid growth during the initial Big Bang scenario. This would include the concept that the speed of light would also be exceeded. This hypothesis was initially proposed to allow the universe’s horizon to be much further away and thus accommodate the universe’s thermal equilibrium.
Many YEC’s (young earth creationists) find this ironic because we have postulated the same concept, e.g. that the speed of light might have been faster in the past than it is today as predicted by the II Law of Thermodynamics. Another interesting factor is the amount of speculation concerning this Big Bang model. It is my understanding that there have been over 50 published versions of this hypothetical event.
While YEC’ers are ridiculed for not being able to demonstrate how the universe continues to expand and the apparent constant of the speed of light, evolutionary scientists have failed to solve that problem as well. It is also true that the original hypothesis that Guth published in 1980 has been proven false and modern inflationary cosmologies have been modified since his original proposal.
As far as we can tell, nothing that science has yet to offer in any way falsifies the biblical account of creation in the book of Genesis.
