Dinosaur-Mania Strikes Again
Dinosaurs are perhaps the most popular subject for children of all ages. We are fascinated with these creatures from the moment we lay our eyes on them. All you need to do is look at my 2 year-old grandson’s collection (just some, not all of the menagerie) pictured here. This does not include a large T Rex that not only roars while opening and closing its jaws in a menacing fashion, it walks across the floor looking for something or someone to devour.
The pink triceratops even has a human being riding on him (he’s buried in the pile somewhere) like some Jurassic cowboy with missile launcher attached to his saddle. And this brings me to the point of this article.
According to evolutionary dogma, these critters first appeared during the Triassic period, 231.4 million years ago, and were the dominant terrestrial vertebrates for 135 million years, from the start of the Jurassic (about 200 million years ago) until the end of the Cretaceous (66 million years ago). It was then that the alleged Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event or the K-T event (the name given to the die-off of the dinosaurs and other various lifeforms) took place some 65.5 million years ago. Now I don’t want to throw a monkey wrench into this clever little explanation of what killed off the dinosaurs, but I am old enough to remember when other equally clever explanations, everything from epidemics to supernovas to increases in UV radiation, were put forth as the “real reason” the dinosaurs became extinct.
The next bit of business is the way Pixar, purchased by Disney in 2006, has chosen to presents its holiday movie, “The Good Dinosaur” complete with humans and dinosaurs co-existing. It seems that they have decided it would be OK to contradict evolutionary dogma that places the appearance of Homo sapiens a mere 200,000 years ago. But just like the history concerning the many theories of dinosaur extinction, the evolutionary experts have pushed the appearance of modern man back from 5-10,000 year timeframe to 25,000 years to 100,000 to almost a quarter of a million years, and all of this in my lifetime. Don’t misunderstand; I am a fan of Disney movies. I can still remember as a child being amazed by the classic Disney movie “Fantasia.” I am particular fond of movies by Pixar; my all-time favorite is the Sci- Fi robot love story “WALL E,” with “Toy Story” and “Up” coming in a close 2nd and 3rd.
But this is not a film review, it is a statement concerning the fact that Disney’s “The Good Dinosaur” is, in fact, closer to the truth than the screen writers might have thought. While evolutionary theory tells us that dinosaurs and man did not co-exist, the creators of “The Good Dinosaur” have postulated that the killer asteroid actually missed the planet leaving the dinosaurs around long enough to encounter humans. Once you realize that they are presenting this as a fantasy, you understand that they are paying homage to the evolutionary story that has, pardon the pun, evolved over the years into its present form we hear about today.
Did I mention that the age of the universe has grown from the biblical model of 5-10,000 years to a million years old in the eighteenth century? Then it jumped from millions to hundreds of millions and then billions until the most recent proclamation that the universe is at least 14.46±0.8 billion years old. That guess is based upon the alleged age of the oldest star known. I think they might be learning from their past erroneous prognostications, because as of February 2015 an alternative view to extend the Big Bang model was presented that suggests the Universe had no beginning or singularity and that the age of the Universe may be infinite. How convenient.
So why all the fuss? Well, as far as I can tell, these evolutionary prognosticators have been changing their tune so frequently with regard to the disappearance of the dinosaurs, the dates for the appearance of humans and the alleged age of the universe that their wisdom concerning these matters cannot be trusted.
As those who know the Word of God, we realize just how far from the truth Darwin’s Theory has wandered. With this new movie about humans and dinosaurs being contemporaries, they have actually stumbled onto the truth without realizing it. We know that most of the dinosaurs did not survive the changes brought about by the worldwide cataclysmic flood recorded in the book of Genesis. We also know that the pre-Flood patriarch, Job, describes what clearly resembles a brachiosaurus (called Behemoth in Hebrew meaning a large quadruped). Many commentaries and Bible notations attempt to identify this beast as a hippopotamus or an elephant, however, the text (Its tail sways like a cedar) precludes both of these creatures as being what Job describes.
15 “Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16 What strength it has in its loins, what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 Its tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18 Its bones are tubes of bronze, its limbs like rods of iron.
19 It ranks first among the works of God, yet its Maker can approach it with his sword.
20 The hills bring it their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
21 Under the lotus plants it lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
22 The lotuses conceal it in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround it.
23 A raging river does not alarm it; it is secure, though the Jordan should surge against its mouth.
24 Can anyone capture it by the eyes, or trap it and pierce its nose? Job 40:15-25
Job is describing a huge beast of enormous proportions. When you look at an artist’s depiction of a brachiosaurus, you are really left with only one conclusion. The biblical account of the creation is accurate. People who are without the Holy Spirit will often scoff at the truth. The Psalmist has already told us what to expect from unbelievers. Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain. The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed (Messiah in Hebrew), Psalm 2:1-2. At CSI, we will continue to boldly speak the truth in love concerning our Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever, Psalm 119:160.
