Elementary Science Program

Elementary Science Program for Homeschoolers

The growth of the homeschool movement has exposed a need for an exciting elementary science program. Creation Studies Institute (CSI) has designed a quality, science curriculum which follows the National Science Education Standards, to serve the homeschool families of Broward, Dade, and Palm Beach counties.

The CSI elementary science program is uniquely designed to help students connect with their Creator God, providing students with the opportunity to experience discovery workshops. The CSI creation-based curriculum is highly interactive and makes learning fun.

This program gives parents the opportunity to encourage their children to think, as they engage in the exciting hands-on activities, watch spectacular demonstrations, participate in inquiry-based discussions and more. It fills students with knowledge and appreciation as they discover the scientific evidences of Godʼs Creation.

Each quarter coincides with the local school year, and investigates topics from two areas of
science, such as Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Environmental Science or Life Science.

The class meets one day a week for 8 consecutive weeks.

Descriptions:

1st Quarter:

1. Physical Science

Newton's 3 Laws of Motion: Discover Newton’s three laws of motion; inertia, force and acceleration. “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

2. Life Science

Exploring Ocean Life: Investigate living rocks, food webs, warm blooded animals, marine mammals and shark anatomy. Explore how sea creatures use their God given gift of sound identification, and magnetic migration to survive.

2nd Quarter:

1. Physical Science

Energy - Properties and Forms: Study the properties of energy, potential energy and kinetic energy. Look into light energy: optics, color, reflection and absorption of light. Consider how heat energy and sound energy work.

2. Earth Science

Exploring God’s Creation - Geology: Learn how plate tectonics create mountain formations, and interesting land forms. Make a contour map of a mountain. Learn how to identify different types of rocks and the three main types of rocks. Even discover radioactive rocks.

3rd Quarter:

1. Physical Science

Kitchen Chemistry: Learn how speed and pressure affect each other. Indicators; acids, and bases what are they use for? Look into how fast chemical’s react when mixed. Explore the properties of water and how it relates to its surface tension.

2. Physical Science

Energy and Magnetism: Investigate each component of electricity and how each part is necessary to have electricity. Discover the properties of magnets, and what materials are used in making magnets. Explore how magnets and electric current work together.

4th Quarter:
1. Physical Science

Energy and Electricity: Learn how to build different types of circuits. Explore the energy types of the future nuclear, solar, wind or water energy. Which is going to be the best?

2. Life Science

Entomology - Insects: Investigate the anatomy and life cycle of insects.  Observe God’s design in the anatomy of a grasshopper. Determine the location of ants by their tracks. Look into spiders and their great web designs.
