Did God Create Aliens?
The classic blockbuster movie E.T. the Extraterrestrial won four Academy awards in 1982 under the acclaimed director of epic films, Steven Spielberg. This brilliantly produced movie captured the imaginations of young and old. It was not the typical extraterrestrial/alien movie that portrays danger and menace to earthlings like you and me. Its star, E.T., the extraterrestrial, won over the audience with its peculiar, short, reptilian-looking body temporarily visiting the earth. It had unusually long fingers with one in particular that made a warm and odd connection to all that viewed the film. This famous finger had mysterious powers that invoked healing and growth with a magic touch. This odd-looking creature whose whimsical ways portrayed tenderness and endearment would find his way home. This movie left us with a happy memory and an increased eagerness to probe the universe to find more extraterrestrials, perhaps as friendly and kind as the famous E.T. whom we all enjoyed.
This film leaves a big question that many will have to answer, “Did God create life in outer space?” Why wouldn’t a loving God create loveable creatures like E.T. somewhere in the depths of space? The answer to this question can be found in God’s Word which is given through the inspiration of God for doctrine and instruction. (2 Timothy 3:16)
In God’s Word
The first chapter in Genesis demonstrates the literal history of not only the earth and living things that adorn it, but of everything that was made in the Cosmos. This is confirmed in John 1:1 as it states, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” In the first verse of the Gospel John wrote, he speaks of Jesus Christ as being the Word and he refers to this later on again in verse 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh.” In the Greek, “word” is translated as logos which not only means speech but can also mean reason as in logic. In John 1:3 he follows with the statement that the “logos” was the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the reason for everything that is made. “All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
The beloved apostle John refers to Genesis 1 to begin his Gospel, mentioning that the Word is the Creator of all things. John affirms Genesis since the expression “God Said” appears ten times alone in the Genesis 1 account. God spoke everything into existence, which is why in John 1 it states, “In the beginning was the Word.” If nothing existed before Genesis 1, then we have to make the conclusion that if extraterrestrials or outer space aliens are present, they would have to be addressed in Genesis 1.
We see the first forms of life addressed in the forms of vegetation on Day 3, “Then God Said, ‘Let the earth bring forth grass.’” (Genesis 1:11) In Genesis 1, all forms of life (including man) were introduced on earth and not anywhere else in the universe. He created the earth to be inhabited by every creature that will give God His true glory as stated in Isaiah 45:18,
“For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it, who has established it, who did not create it in vain, who formed it to be inhabited: ‘I am the Lord, and there is no other.’”
Man is unique among all creation because he was created in God’s image. (Genesis 1:26-27) He is also distinguished as being given living breath from God. Man alone - of all of God’s creatures - would receive his living spirit personally in Genesis 2:7. Man would be put into a loving relationship with God who would graciously share an everlasting hope with the one He created with honor and glory as Psalm 8:5 states, “For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.” Man was no ordinary creature but one who had a special place on earth in all of God’s cosmos.
God created man because of his perfect love for him as seen in both Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 with God’s exceptional favor. Man was given a purpose and a commission. This purpose was to be fruitful, fill the earth with other human beings, rule and steward over God’s created things on this earth as stated in Genesis 1:28, “…and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” As it is observed, God’s created living things are to cover the face of the earth both in water and on land. God made a clear designation that the life He made was on the earth which was man’s to rule, but the heavens and beyond were His as it states in Psalm 115:6, “The heavens, even the heavens are the Lord’s but the earth He has given to the children of men.”
Every creature in Genesis 1 had only one home to live in which would supply all their needs because of the uniquely designed planet earth. Even the birds of the air would need the land in which to nest, eat, and live. God ordained only one place in the whole cosmos that man was to rule over. The scripture clearly does not address any other place in all of creation for living creatures to exist and flourish but the earth. God gave man the earth with all its beauty and fullness with the immense diversity of life to rule over. This was God’s designated place for life and nowhere else.
One Plan of Salvation
Many believers in extraterrestrials are searching for intelligent life similar to humans. The outer space zealots look for a creature like E.T. who has super human qualities regarding intellect but distinguish themselves with unique physical forms. Would these creatures in some way have a relationship with God? This presents a major scriptural problem. The scripture addresses clearly Christ’s desire to have an eternal relationship with man. God created man with everlasting love as it states in Jeremiah 31:3. “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.” Just as God destined man with His love here on earth, we also were designed to love Him here on earth and in heaven for eternity. Paul emphasizes this fact in Acts 17:26 when he states, “every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.” It begins with Adam being of one blood and the truth that God sets a boundary in time and space as to who he chose to have a loving relationship with on the face of the earth. This excludes E.T.’s or other humanlike creatures from space. He chose only man with a predetermined time and place.
In Genesis 3, we see that man falls into sin and not only experiences a separation from God, but the whole creation is suffering and in bondage to decay as stated in Romans 8:18-25. This is a consequence of sin in which the entire creation, not just the earth, would be subject to the curse. We are also informed in 2 Peter 3:13 that the whole cosmos will be restored with a new heaven and new earth where righteousness will dwell. This is the hope of all those who believe in Christ their Savior. Our Messiah has even prepared a place for us in heaven as it says in John 14:2-3 and He will come again and receive us as stated in this verse, “…receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also.” The redemption of man and the creation is a one-time, permanent plan. By its design, we witness that God would send His only begotten Son to die as the sacrificial lamb for the sins of man and defeat death through His resurrection. There is one universal plan for the whole cosmos that centers on Christ coming to earth to save mankind as it states in Hebrews 10:12. Our Messiah would make one sacrifice forever, for all as it states, “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God.” It is the sin offering for all time. He instituted a universal plan that is void of extraterrestrials like E.T. or any other life forms from outer space. Why then does man refuse to let them go?
Science Says NO
Secularists tout the theory of evolution as the key ingredient for the existences of E.T.-type creatures. They put their hopes in numbers and the possibility that life could strangely evolve by chance using the fact that vast numbers of galaxies ranging up to 200 billion, containing 100’s of billions of stars and planets numbering in thousands that have been discovered in the past two decades. The hope is that there is a chance that one of these planets is like earth and would be viable for life. Such a proposal at first seems appealing but there is an inherent problem that demonstrates misguided assumptions about the complexity of life and the precise design of the earth to support any life forms.
The first evolutionary perspective is totally blinded and completely void of scientific evidence to support the origin of life from the materials of a big bang and other molecules, compounds, and elements to form life as we observe it today. Unfortunately for evolutionists, as knowledge is uncovered of the deep complexity of life in a bio-molecular level, we witness that these systems are working together in a highly organized structure that cannot be matched by any kind of design system with human intelligence. There had to be a super intelligent designer that materialists refuse to accept because it supports a divine Creator. Also, the origin of the information for these complex systems carried by the DNA/RNA is unknown. Science fails to define a working mechanism that can be verified in any way. Abiogenesis, the idea that living organisms arise from inorganic materials is science fiction, a great big fairy tale that fits perfectly with the assumption of life in outer space.
Planet earth was uniquely designed to support life of all forms. Many secular scientists hope to find planets like the earth that support liquid, water, and stars similar to our sun that are separated by about the same distance. This area of separation is classified as the habitable zone. This challenge is much too simplistic when it comes to all the factors to support life as we know it. For example, the earth is covered with 70% liquid water, has an atmosphere of 78% Nitrogen, and 21% Oxygen, and another 1% of inert gasses. What are the chances of duplicating this alone and then adding the other 20 or more factors? It now dwarfs any statistical chances approaching “0” having life similar to what we observe here on earth. Another failure.
Alien Intrusion: Unmasking A Deception
What about those unidentified objects that have been spotted in our atmosphere? There is a great resource that our CSI ministry is going to offer to answer this question and so many others with a new documentary film, now available in DVD format. It has been viewed in many of our movie theaters throughout the United States and it is entitled Alien Intrusion: Unmasking the Deception. This entertaining full length film (109 minutes) filled with facts will bring the truth out of these so-called UFO’s and the deception they bring to the world we live in. The truth will surprise you.
Along with this DVD, Alien Intrusion, we are also going to provide a pocket guide on UFO’s and ETs that also answers questions like: Why all the interest in UFOs? What does the Bible say? We would like to make these two resources available for a minimum donation of $35.00. This engaging DVD and this informative booklet make a comprehensive package dealing with this controversial topic that we need to provide answers for in this very conflicted world.
Please continue to hold our CSI ministry up in prayer. We need your prayers more than ever as we move out and bring the spiritually blind to experience Christ’s love through His awesome creation. Please also prayerfully consider a financial contribution, partnering with us to reach the goals God has given us to serve Him as we celebrate our 30th anniversary.
Thanks for your continued support.
