Many intelligent design critics refuse to keep creationism and intelligent design separate by calling it "intelligent design creationism". Religious motivations and imminent dangers of theocracy are included. They want the arguments against the power of the Darwinian mechanism and the cogency of materialism, and arguments for design, to suffer guilt by association with logically unrelated and much less persuasive arguments about the youthful age of the universe and the explanatory power of a single worldwide flood.
