Gary Steenhoek -- Manager of the Creation Discovery Centers
Gary grew up in a Christian home. He went to public school in a rural Christian community in Iowa. The teachers went to church regularly knowing only God's Word. The topic of origins was never really addressed, except from God's Word and that there is this other idea out there of evolution. As a junior in high school, Gary professed his faith in Jesus Christ. An Elder/Sunday School teacher, challenged Gary to go to a Christian College. He accepted the challenge, and graduated from Calvin College with a B.A. in Education. It was during this period of his life that his beliefs in the seven literal days of Creation were challenged with the dogma of the theistic evolutionists. In 1974, Gary began teaching at Westminster Academy. Through the teaching of Dr. Kennedy and the mentoring of Mr. Ed Hopkins, Gary reaffirmed his belief in the literal seven days of Creation. Gary taught creation science, and coached at Westminster Academy since 1974. He has coached in the football, basketball, and baseball programs. He presently mentors a middle school team for the National Engineers Future City Competition. He completed an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in science, from Florida Atlantic University. He met his wife Carolyn during his first year at Westminster Academy. They have one son, Michael.
Gary is joining CSI to manage the Creation Discovery Centers. Gary desires to use his knowledge in Science, to show others that Faith and Science CAN mix. That in fact, they compliment one another beautifully.
